Algimantas Staskevicius (Violin)

 

Algimantas Staskevicius has more than 20 years of teaching experience in Violin and Viola. He is a native of Lithuania, is a violinist with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.  He served as an instructor with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra’s string program for seven years.  He also taught both graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Southern Mississippi.  Mr. Staskevicius earned a Master’s degree in music from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2001.

-          Bachelor of Music at M.K. Ciurlionis School of Fine Arts (Lithuania)

-          Mississippi String Program at the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra

-          University of Southern Mississippi.   Violin teacher, undergraduate and graduate level students

-          Community Music School at Southeastern Louisiana University    

 

Orchestral experience:

-          Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, violinist 

-          Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, 1st violin    

-          Mississippi Opera, Concertmaster  

-          Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, assistant principal 2nd violin 

-          Acadian Symphony Orchestra, Lafayette, LA, 1st violin                     

 

Teaching philosophy

“My goal as a music teacher is to develop students’ musical abilities and enable them to appreciate and enjoy the music and their instrument.  I offer flexible curriculum tailored to the personal needs and goals, guiding the student to attain the utmost progress and, ultimately, to excel in violin playing.  I emphasize organized practicing and consistency, also encouraging parents’ involvement in early stages of music career.”
